Fatal Accident in Sutter County Claims Two Chico Residents

On October 6, 2026, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Highway 99 and Howsley Road for a coroner case involving a traffic collision that had occurred.
The victims in the traffic collision were identified as 45-year-old Chico CA resident Gabriel Rodriguez Maldonado and 42-year-old Chico CA resident Maria Cristina Alarcon-Abarca.
The traffic collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
