09.17.2026 "Press Release" - Butte County District Attorney's Office

By Will Sheffield

A Chico man appeared this week in the Butte County Superior Court for arraignment on multiple felony charges of inappropriate sexual behavior involving a 12-year-old girl.

Guerardo Guido, 24, of Chico, was arrested two weeks ago by Chico Police detectives after an investigation revealed allegations that he had been contacting the girl on social media for sexual purposes and had sexually assaulted her.

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said detectives obtained a search warrant with the assistance of the district attorney’s office and, with the assistance of the Chico Police SWAT team, served it on Guido’s house on Jackson Street in Chico. Officers arrested Guido without incident and seized electronic evidence from his house.

The District Attorney charged Guido with committing a lewd act upon a child by force, communicating with a child for sexual purposes, sending inappropriate sexual material to a child, and possessing photographic materials depicting child sexual abuse.

Guido is being held without bail because of the risk he posed to the minor child if released. Ramsey said that Chico Police detectives are continuing to investigate whether Guido also abused additional minors.

Guido will next appear in court on September 30, 2026, for his preliminary hearing, where a judge will hear evidence to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

Guido faces more than 12 years in state prison if convicted on his current charges.
